hoping for great things

Wow, where did the week go?! It seems like now that I'm getting closer to graduating, the weeks are just flying by at break-neck speed. And they're not even filled with anything much interesting. My days are usually spent studying or working on some class project and my nights are spent falling asleep to Tigers games. Not very exciting in the least.

This past week was a bit different, though. Tuesday I was invited to my college's advisory board meeting. It turned out to be a 3-hour yawnfest, but I got fed, was given some bling (a very nice leather attache thingy), and scored a few brownie points with the director of my program. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Tuesday night, but all in all not a bad night out.

Vic was home sick from work on Thursday & Friday, so this gave me the chance to spend some time with her that I normally don't get. I know she was sick and a little puny-feeling, but still it was nice having her around for a few more hours than I normally do. Speaking of her work...she works security at GM and things are starting to look a little bleak over there. Gobs of GM people are being laid off or fired weekly. Vic doesn't work directly for GM, but if there aren't any employees to guard there really won't be a need for guards. We won't worry about it until there's something to worry about!

We are supposed to be getting a new back porch installed today. The porch guys (who were supposed to be here an hour ago) are going to build us a pretty wood deck-type porch over our existing falling-apart concrete one. I'm hoping for great things!
