I went to my first union meeting ever tonight. It was very underwhelming to say the least, but it did bring images of Sally Field to mind. The whole meeting dealt with whether or not to agree to a a proposed contract with the city. Since I'm still technically on probation I didn't get to vote (kinda disappointing). I won't bore you with the details, but the short version is that I still don't know for sure if/when I'll be laid off. I'll probably know more after the millage vote on the 28th. Still, I felt very union-y sitting there with my fellow oppressed peoples. I almost wish I had brought a black magic marker and some cardboard!
