Catching Up

Computer
Last Wednesday, as I was walking by the desk, I happened to glance at the computer and the whole damn thing just imploded. Okay, maybe not imploded, but I just got the darn thing back today after being at the computer doctor's for FIVE DAYS. Now, many $$$ later, we have Windows XP loaded on our computer and everything appears to be fine. Of course we lost everything and I've spent the better part of the night loading stuff back on the computer. How very sucky!

Katrina
Once again, Vic & I are really glad we got out of P'Cola before the hurricane season started this year. And we're also glad that the storm didn't do more damage to P'Cola than it did. It's so frustrating to sit and watch the storm keep building and heading your way and knowing that there's nothing you can do. You would think that with today's science and technology we could send up something to break up the storm before it makes landfall.

Postal Exam
I took the entrance exam for the post office this morning and feel pretty good about it. I think I did really well, but won't get the results for 6-8 weeks. Government efficiency, I guess. My interview with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is Thursday morning and I haven't heard from Sterling Heights yet, but I'm pretty confident I'll be in a new position before Christmas.

Around The House
I'm still working on the craft room, although I've made some pretty serious progress. I hung a couple pictures, set up the table and have all the boxes unpacked. I have to move a few heavy items to another part of the house and then I'll be ready to scrap. It's hard to move anything large without Vic's help and we don't really have many days off together so things are moving a little slowly. And so am I...I pulled a muscle in my leg and it's left me a bit "hobbley." I'm kinda gimpy and walking up & down the stairs and spending 40 hours a week on my feet at work isn't helping it any. What I need is about a month off from work where all I do is sit in the backyard, enjoying the breeze and catching up on my reading. My cross-stitching is coming along nicely. Still working on the "Lavende" picture (mostly on my days off). The backyard squirrels have started to trust us more and now they'll eat out of our hands! Shannon's not really very pleased about this, but as long as we pet her while feading the the squirrels she seems to be okay.

You sound very happy, my friend. I still miss you, though!
